Senior Lien Mechanical System Replacements FY11
Guernsey was contracted by the Oklahoma City Airport Trust to define design requirements and develop construction documents for the replacement of mechanical systems at approximately fifteen buildings at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center at Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City. The project was broken into four separate projects over four calendar years: FY11, FY12, FY13 and FY14.
The FY11 project was primarily focused on a heating hot water system replacement, cooling tower replacement projects, and a chilled water system replacement at Aviation Records Building. The project was accomplished through a series of site and building investigations, analysis of existing systems, and design studies used to better understand which systems were in need of replacement and upgrading.
The initial design was summarized in a report that included Guernsey’s recommendations and a summary of probable costs. The report was provided to OCAT for approval. Then construction documents were developed. The following buildings received major mechanical upgrades:
- Headquarters Building
- Flight Standard Building
- Civil Aeromedical Institute
- Aviation Records Building
- Multipurpose Building
Outcomes
Major mechanical upgrades to five buildings were accomplished and replacements and upgrades were designed for the remaining 10 buildings on the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center campus.
