Onward Chickasha Comprehensive Plan
In June of 2022, the City of Chickasha selected Guernsey to develop a new Comprehensive Plan that better reflects current and future Chickasha. In order to address the changing needs of the City, the new plan – Onward Chickasha – will provide a framework to strategically plan for future development in a manner that manifests the desires of the community, coordinates future growth with fiscal responsibility, promotes resiliency, and maintains the community’s cherished small-town character.
Community engagement is the foundation of our planning process in all projects: Because every place is unique, we tailor our engagement strategies to the community by using a variety of traditional, creative, and inclusive techniques. In Chickasha, this has meant ongoing engagement throughout the entire project to build consensus and buy-in, maintain transparency, and help foster public trust in local government through accessible and DEI-based engagement strategies.
The final document, to be completed in the fall of 2024, will be based in community action and reinforced with the Project Team’s supplementary research and expertise in best planning practices. Altogether, this approach helps shape a successful and community-made Comprehensive Plan.
