Green Avenue Enhancements, Streetscape, and Complete Streets
The City of Purcell suffered a devastating ice storm that destroyed the Green Avenue streetscape. Green Avenue is the main road that enters Purcell from I-35. Guernsey provided engineering and landscape design services for the Green Avenue Enhancements.
Guernsey held extensive meetings with the Purcell public, City Staff, and the Green Avenue advisory team to develop a master plan that would enhance this vital corridor.
Guernsey’s Master Plan envisions lighting improvements, landscaping, irrigation, pedestrian crosswalks, sidewalks, and gateway features. Guernsey developed a schematic design for the entire corridor from North I-35 ramps to the South I-35 ramps, and additional three miles.
Improvements included landscape and irrigation plans for the medians between Grand Avenue and Main Street, lighting and electrical coordination for future street lighting, sign removal coordination, and gateway design at the southwest corner of Grant Avenue.
Additional improvements complete street design including a community-wide bikeway plan and the addition of a five foot concrete sidewalk on the west side of Green Avenue from Grand to Main St.
