Environmental Clearances for County Improvements to Roads & Bridges
Guernsey conducts National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) clearances to facilitate the upgrade of county roads and bridges throughout the state of Oklahoma.
Most of these clearances are addressed as categorical exclusions (CATEX) and involve requirements for technical and field activities including initial site assessments (ISAs), biological reviews, wetlands investigations, cultural resources reconnaissance studies, and the potential for noise studies.
On federally funded environmental clearances, Guernsey serves as ODOT’s coordinator and provides management, coordination, and oversight for those issues that fall under the purview of ODOT’s NEPA program including tribal coordination, property owner notification, Section 4(f), and interagency coordination. Responsibilities also include site visits and preparation of reports (environmental clearance report & monthly status reports). Guernsey has performed scores of CATEX’s in assisting ODOT with compliance requirements.
