Rising to New Heights: Celebrating Guernsey Intern Kyla Davis’s Journey to the Olympic Trials
Imagine walking into the office and discovering your new intern is skilled in interior design and an Olympic hopeful in pole vaulting! At Guernsey, we thrive on the energy and inspiration that talented, ambitious people like Kyla Davis bring to our team. This summer, we got a fantastic surprise when Kyla, our dedicated intern, asked for some time off—not for a vacation, but to prepare for the Olympic trials!
A Fusion of Design and Athletics
Kyla, a senior from Pittsburg State University in Kansas, found a connection with Guernsey through her local roots in Oklahoma City and Yukon, Oklahoma. Her passion for pole vaulting has brought a distinctive perspective to her internship. From her first day, Kyla embraced Guernsey’s collaborative culture, reminiscent of the teamwork in sports.

A Natural Talent
Kyla's journey in pole vaulting began in middle school, and her talent quickly attracted the attention of college recruiters. Since then, her athletic career has soared – winning national championships and continually competing at high levels. This progression naturally leads to her current athletic endeavors.
Olympic Aspirations
This year brought an exciting development: Kyla qualified for the Olympic trials and is ranked 24th in the nation with a personal best of 4.5 meters (14'9"). Her immediate goal for the trials in Eugene, Oregon, is to clear 15 feet, an ambition that underscores her commitment and drive.
A Model of Discipline
Kyla’s rigorous training schedule, including daily workouts, lifting, and drills, mirrors the meticulous planning required in the design process. Her ability to manage time effectively and plan her training cycles reflects her capacity to tackle challenges both in athletics and design.
Inspiration and Support
From a young age, Kyla has been playfully teased about one day competing in the Olympics – a dream now within reach. As she stands on the cusp of representing her country, her journey inspires her and the entire Guernsey team.
As we anticipate Kyla’s return to the office, we look forward to celebrating her achievements at the trials and supporting her continued growth in both interior design and pole vaulting. We are indeed fortunate to have such a dedicated and multi-talented individual on our team. Go, Kyla, and go, Team USA!
