Mechanical Designer
The Role: We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer with 5 or more years of experience in building systems design to join our dynamic and growing team. This role is responsible for producing accurate, efficient, and coordinated HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical designs for a variety of commercial, institutional, and industrial projects. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, team-focused, and experienced in using industry-standard design tools such as Revit and AutoCAD.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to develop mechanical system designs, including HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems
- Prepare construction documents including plans, sections, details, and schedules using Revit and AutoCAD
- Perform equipment selection and layout coordination with architectural and structural disciplines
- Assist in load calculations, energy modeling inputs, and system sizing
- Conduct site visits to gather field data and support construction administration
- Coordinate closely with clients, consultants, and contractors to support project delivery
- Maintain awareness of project timelines and deliverables to ensure deadlines are met
- Support QA/QC processes and implement feedback to improve design accuracy and quality
What You Bring to the Team:
- Associate degree or technical diploma in mechanical design or drafting (Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred)
- 5+ years of mechanical design experience in the AEC industry
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD required; familiarity with Navisworks and Bluebeam a plus
- Understanding of mechanical building systems and construction processes
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, ICC, etc.)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or remain in a stationary position for extended periods (up to 50%)
- Ability to walk within the office or on job sites (25%)
- Full range of motion for site-based work, including stooping and standing (25%)
- Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment (computer, copier, etc.)
- Effective verbal communication and clear visual focus on screen-based work
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. of field equipment as needed
