With flagship office headquarters in Minneapolis, RBC Wealth Management boasts over 200 offices nationwide. A key challenge with this client has been maintaining corporate standards while honoring local culture and geo-specific needs. Additionally, recruitment and retention of talent, and keeping up with the technology demands of a multi-national banking and investment firm requires continual focus on design.

From core problem solving to ongoing consulting including annual analysis, post-occupancy, and life cycle analysis, the design approach focused on recruitment and retention. The design approach blended multiple skillsets to improve workspace collaboration, lower panel heights, open up spaces, and increase daylighting. All of this was done with an eye toward efficiency and engagement—reinforcing the client’s commitment to its people, its clients, and to fostering a leading-edge workplace.

The design team has leveraged its intimate understanding of this client’s space utilization and business needs to oversee multiple restacks of spaces, all programming, rent charge-backs, and CAFM (Computer-Aided Facilities Management) services to optimize space usage.

Recent work includes a massive effort to consolidate 100,000-square-feet in two buildings into one existing space and incorporating alternative workplace solutions to achieve lower operating cost and improved space utilization.

Perhaps more than any other asset, effectively managing the design path requires solid relationships and partnership. Since 1985, the team has continually delivered value and innovation on behalf of this client—managing the design of the 85,000-square-foot headquarters and operations facilities and ongoing remodels for the firm’s other offices and facilities.
