This massive 575,000-square-foot renovation was a large scale effort to maximize the floor plate of the building while maintaining its historic landmark image. The overall design maintained the historic building’s unique catenary arch.
Leveraging a lush, green, one-acre environment the design team used materials old and new to update this showcase property. Use of salvaged granite material throughout played up both the historic profile and the need for eco-friendly design. A state-of-the art, thermally broken, aluminum-insulated glass system brings light throughout while sheltering against the harsh Midwest seasons. As part of a significant, 32,000 square foot addition, the Marquette Plaza update features an open two-story public lobby and skyway connections – critical in the Twin Cities downtown area.
Marquette Plaza is one of the few multi-tenant buildings worldwide to receive the prestigious LEED Platinum certification.
