Environmental Scientist/Environmental Planner
Description of Duties / Responsibilities:General/broad duties will include performance of a variety of activities related to environmental compliance, including environmental site assessments associated with due diligence/ property transactions and other related projects, various types of site investigations, and general environmental analyses. Additional job duties will include preparation of studies/reports related to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), addressing regulatory compliance issues, preparation of various environmental plans including Spill Prevention Countermeasures and Control Plans and Storm Water Prevention Plans, environmental sampling of various media (soil, groundwater, surface water, asbestos, lead, and mold, etc.), data interpretation/analysis, and general report preparation. Projects are diverse and include land resources, water resources, infrastructure, and waste management. The candidate must demonstrate strong attention to detail, a strong customer focus, and excellent technical writing skills. Travel and field work will be required. Approximately 30% of the time will be spent away from the office. Most travel is within the State of Oklahoma and surrounding states. Candidate must have a good understanding of municipal, state, and federal environmental programs.
Education: Bachelor Degree in Environmental Science or an equivalent technical field.
Experience: 5 to 8 years’ experience in an environmental related field. GIS skills preferred.
Essential Physical Functions:
Stand or sit – must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Walk –this position requires the ability to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. – 25% of the time. Full range of motion to walk, stoop and stand while working on worksites – 25% of the time. Use hands/fingers – must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer – 50% of the time. Talk – This position frequently communicates with internal and external customers, must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations – 25% of the time. Vision – must be able to clearly focus on information located on a computer screen, paperwork, etc. – 50% of the time. Lift/Carry – must be able to lift/carry up to 30 lbs. of site equipment when necessary.
