Air Support Operations Squadron

The 138th Air Support Operations Squadron at Will Rogers Air National Guard Base is the training site for US Army mission requirements. When it was time to update the facility and improve capabilities, Guernsey was selected for this important duty. Functional areas in the new facility included: command and control, mission planning, radio and vehicle maintenance, weapons storage vault, missions planning and administrative support, multipurpose room, communications, storage, and fitness area. In addition, the vehicle storage shed houses approximately 24 HUMVEE and 2 Stryker vehicles, as well as a wash rack.

The operations/training unit is a 19,100-square-foot stand-alone design/construction facility. The radio and vehicle/AGE maintenance facility is 5,000 square feet and is located on the east end of the ASOS building. The vehicle storage shed and wash rack spans 15,100 square feet and was a renovation of the existing AGE maintenance facility.

The complete project included interior construction, utilities, fire protection, intrusion detection and public address system, with all mechanical and electrical systems designed for innovation and cost efficiency. Exterior improvements included clearing, site work, storm water controls, access roads, parking areas, utilities extension, fire protection, and communication system and support. Considerations for green building criteria were evaluated throughout the facility.
